The Brick Church for the Performing Arts proudly presents the Bradley Jazz Collective on Thursday, September 7, 2023. The Bradley Jazz Collective was founded in 2015 to perform the inaugural concert for Bradley Backstage concert series at the Leura-Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center. The Bradley Jazz Collective prioritizes musical interaction and spontaneity in its fresh interpretations of the jazz repertoire. This year’s program at the Lovell Brick Church for the Performing Arts features the music of Billy Strayhorn. Beginning in 1939, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn collaborated in the creation of hundreds of jazz classics. Their ability to co-compose is unmatched in the history of jazz. Despite their close work together, Strayhorn’s compositions contain their own unique sound that is full of colorful harmonies and poignant melodies. Bradley Jazz Collective members include Tom Robinson, piano, Mike Sakash, saxophone, Al Hospers bass, and Craig Byan Jr., drums.
